Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 opens its extraction mode to pre-order buyers today at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 5 PM UTC. Digital pre-orders on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, PlayStation 5, Steam, Battle.net, and Nintendo Switch 2 can drop into DMZ three days ahead of the wider October 23 launch.

Campaign early access has already been active since October 16. Today's DMZ arrival pushes the door open for the game's persistent extraction loop, where squads drop into contested ground with optional free loadouts, complete assignments, battle AI units alongside hostile squads, and attempt to extract.

Dedicated Leveling and Base Upgrades

DMZ features an independent progression ladder capping at Level 70, running completely separate from the standard multiplayer rank pool of Level 1 to 55. Players earn experience points through story objectives, side ops, and dynamic contracts. Even when an exfiltration goes wrong, all earned match XP sticks and continues to feed your primary account level.

Progressing through DMZ ranks unlocks upgrades and stations inside the Forward Operating Base. Reaching Level 2 opens the base 3D printer, which operates strictly between deployments instead of in-match. Players can craft survival kit there, including a Medium Backpack equipped with secure inventory slots that keep stored gear safe if an extraction run fails.

PC Tech Specs and Switch 2 Performance

Infinity Ward and Digital Legends are delivering Modern Warfare 4 natively to the Nintendo Switch 2. The developers target 60 frames per second when the console runs docked. Handheld performance clocked closer to 44 FPS during preview builds at Gamescom, with ongoing software optimization still taking place before street release.

On the PC front, the game requires active Secure Boot and TPM 2.0, while supported AMD and Intel processors must include AVX capability. Graphics support incorporates Nvidia DLSS 4.5. Gamers running GeForce RTX 50 Series cards can turn on Dynamic Multi Frame Generation at up to 6X, while RTX 40 Series GPUs support DLSS 4.5 Frame Generation. Nvidia Reflex latency reduction applies across all compatible RTX hardware.

Editions and Game Pass Timeline

The Standard Edition lists at $69.99 on Amazon, alongside a $99.99 Vault Edition. Players holding a standard copy can pay a $30 upgrade path to unlock the Vault tier. That premium package packages the Hostile Alliance and Special Forces Operator Packs, the Signature Weapon Collection, a DMZ Deployment Bonus, and a single season of BlackCell. Returning players with eligible prior series releases can claim a 10% loyalty discount against the Vault Edition price tag.

If you plan to play via subscription, prepare for a wait. Xbox confirmed Modern Warfare 4 will not hit Game Pass at release, holding back subscription access until holiday 2027. Full competitive multiplayer unlocks for all standard and physical buyers on October 23.
