Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is coming to Xbox Game Pass on October 29, Microsoft confirmed in an Xbox Wire update published October 20. The game will be playable on Xbox Series X|S, PC and through Xbox Cloud Gaming, at no extra cost for subscribers on the right tier.

That tier matters. Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass subscribers all get access. Game Pass Essential, the cheapest rung, is not on the list, so anyone on that plan will need to upgrade or buy the game outright.

This isn't a new release so much as a Game Pass debut. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has been available on Xbox Series X|S since January 22, 2026, roughly five years after it first landed as a PS5 exclusive. Folding it into the subscription now gives it a second life for anyone who skipped the standalone purchase.

The package covers the full Remake story through Cloud Strife's escape from Midgar, as the ex-SOLDIER mercenary teams up with Tifa, Barret and Aerith against the Shinra Electric Power Company. It also bundles Episode Intermission, the side story starring ninja Yuffie Kisaragi as she infiltrates Midgar to steal Shinra's strongest materia. Intermission adds its own summons, Carbuncle, Chocobo Chick and Cactuar, plus a weapon called Cacstar that only works in Yuffie's chapter.

Worth noting: this is the first entry in the Remake trilogy, not the whole story. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the 2024 sequel that continues past Midgar, is not part of this Game Pass deal.

Performance and specs

On Xbox Series X, the game runs the same two modes Digital Foundry documented on PS5: a Graphics Mode at native 4K and 30 frames per second, and a Performance Mode at roughly 1512p and 60 fps. Series S targets a lower resolution but keeps both frame-rate options.

Combat mixes real-time action with the Active Time Battle system, which lets players pause the fight to queue Materia spells, Limit Breaks and synergy attacks between party members.

PC players buying or already owning the game outside Game Pass will need Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 12 and 100 GB of free storage. Minimum specs call for 8 GB of RAM and a Radeon RX 480 or GeForce GTX 780. Recommended specs bump that to 12 GB of RAM and a Radeon RX 5700 or GeForce GTX 1080. Xbox Play Anywhere support means anyone who buys the game directly can play it on both Xbox and PC with shared saves.

The Game Pass version is Xbox and PC only. PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 owners still have to buy it separately, since neither platform is covered by Microsoft's subscription.

The addition lands in the same Xbox Wire update where Microsoft confirmed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will not be joining Game Pass, a notable absence given how central the franchise has been to the service's day-one lineup lately. For now, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade fills that slot, giving subscribers a full-length RPG to dig into starting October 29.
