Google Play rolled out fresh discounts on Friday, knocking the standalone price of Hyper Light Drifter: Special Edition down to $1.75 from its customary $5.50 sticker.
That markdown led a batch of mobile software price cuts cataloged by 9to5Toys on Friday afternoon, arriving alongside steep retail hardware promos on recent flagship phones from Samsung and Google.
On the software side, the Android cuts focus on established indie titles and utility software. The Quest expansion Isles of Ice & Fire was listed at $2, half its standard $4 asking price. QuickPin: Fast Notes Reminder dropped its regular $1 fee entirely, going up as a temporary freebie. Other catalog titles included in the promotional push were Summer Catchers, Dragon Ruins, White Room, and Chameleon Run.
For mobile gamers looking to pick up hardware rather than downloads, the retail hardware discounts reported alongside the app cuts took much larger bites out of sticker prices.
Amazon listed Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra configurations at prices starting from $560. Top-tier cuts on those devices took more than $500 off regular retail pricing, according to the listing data compiled Friday.
Best Buy took a different route, aiming discounts squarely at open-box inventory. The retailer cut Galaxy Z Fold 8 open-box stock by as much as $628, making Samsung's large-screen foldable considerably cheaper than brand-new units. Best Buy also listed open-box Pixel 11 devices at cuts reaching nearly $400 under standard pricing.
Digital app sales on Google Play usually rotate out within several days, and open-box store stock tends to dry up as individual units clear out. Buyers watching either the Play Store software deals or the handset clearance listings will find the reduced prices live at their respective storefronts while current stock and promotional windows last.
