Google has quietly added the Pixel 9 lineup to its official Certified Refurbished storefront in the United States, knocking $300 off the entry model. That brings the standard Pixel 9 down to $499, compared to its $799 launch price from late summer.
The bigger phones in the family get comparable cuts. The Pixel 9 Pro now starts at $649 on the store, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL begins at $699. Stock is moving quickly, though. As of Monday evening, the base $499 Pixel 9 is already marked out of stock, leaving only select storage and colour options across the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL up for grabs.
To sweeten the purchase, Google is bundling a six-month Google AI Plus subscription with each order. That perk includes 2TB of cloud storage usable across Photos, Drive, and Gmail.
Official Hardware and Factory Backing
Unlike buying a used phone on a third-party marketplace, devices sold through the Certified Refurbished program come with official corporate backing. Google runs each returned handset through a multi-point testing process. Technicians inspect the display panel, outer casing, battery, and camera sensors to verify that hardware operates within normal performance thresholds.
Whenever a component fails to meet those benchmarks, Google replaces it with genuine factory parts rather than aftermarket equivalents. Each unit also ships with a one-year limited warranty, matching the baseline coverage Google provides when you buy one of its handsets brand new in a retail box.
That combination makes the refurbished inventory a viable path for shoppers who want recent Tensor hardware without spending flagship cash. At $649, the refurbished Pixel 9 Pro undercuts most new premium handsets while retaining the triple-camera setup and brighter panel of the higher-tier models. The same goes for the $699 Pixel 9 Pro XL, which sits at an aggressive level for a 6.8-inch device that debuted well above that mark.
Google has not specified how often inventory replenishes or whether other regions will get similar listings. For now, US buyers looking for the standard $499 model will have to keep an eye on the store page as returns cycle back through the refurbishing line.
