Google has added the Pixel 9 series to its Certified Refurbished catalog in the United States, dropping the entry price to $499. That represents a $300 discount from the standard $799 retail price Google set when the lineup originally debuted in 2024.
The update marks the first time Google has offered official second-hand stock for this specific hardware generation. While the standard Pixel 9 is already marked as out of stock on the Google Store, both the 6.3-inch Pixel 9 Pro and the larger 6.8-inch Pixel 9 Pro XL are currently listed for purchase. Google did not include the foldable model in this refurbished batch.
Refurbished hardware details and software perks
Google launched its Certified Refurbished portal in late 2024 to sell tested, factory-backed pre-owned devices. Under the program, every handset goes through a multi-point inspection, uses authentic replacement components where necessary, and ships unlocked to work across any network carrier. Buyers also receive a standard one-year warranty, matching the baseline coverage Google provides on brand-new hardware.
To sweeten the purchase, Google is bundling a six-month trial of Google AI Plus with purchases of refurbished Pro configurations. That promotional tier provides 2TB of cloud storage alongside Google AI features for qualifying accounts. The fine print restricts the cloud trial to new subscribers, voids the perk if the phone is returned, and runs through April 4, 2027.
Rotating stock on the Google Store
The arrival of the Pixel 9 family follows an ongoing reshuffling of Google's pre-owned catalog. The company pulled the aging Pixel 7 series from the portal in early September 2026 as those older devices moved closer to the end of their software support lifecycle. The newer Tensor-powered models now take over those lower pricing tiers on the storefront.
Stock levels for factory-reconditioned stock tend to fluctuate rapidly based on return rates and trade-in processing. Google has not specified when additional inventory of the standard $499 Pixel 9 will restock, leaving prospective buyers with the higher-tier Pro models for now.
