GTA 6 PC Release Reportedly Planned for Early 2027

Rockstar Games may bring its blockbuster crime sim to desktop computers much earlier than its previous launch schedules suggested.

PC gamers waiting for Grand Theft Auto VI might not face the multi-year drought they feared. Rockstar Games is reportedly planning to launch the PC version of GTA 6 in the first quarter of 2027, according to details shared by GamesBeat.

That timeframe, sourced from four anonymous industry insiders familiar with the studio's schedule, puts the desktop edition roughly four months after the console premiere. Rockstar officially slated GTA 6 for November 19 on PlayStation and Xbox hardware, but made no formal promises regarding a PC conversion at the time of its initial announcements. A spokesperson for Rockstar Games did not respond to questions regarding the reported schedule.

Shorter Gap Than History Suggests

If the Q1 2027 window holds, it marks an abrupt departure from Rockstar's usual playbook. The studio has historically treated PC ports as long-range projects that arrive long after the console dust settles.

When Grand Theft Auto V hit the market, it reached consoles in September 2013. The Windows edition did not follow until April 2015, forcing desktop players to endure an 18-month wait. Red Dead Redemption 2 followed a comparable, if somewhat shorter, trajectory before making the jump to PC storefronts. Given that precedent, widespread industry estimates pegged the GTA 6 PC release for late 2027 or even early 2028.

Pulling that window into the initial months of 2027 suggests development work on the computer build is progressing concurrently with the console polish rather than starting from scratch after console gold master discs ship.

The Wait for Official Confirmation

Rockstar has ramped up its promotional engine lately, going so far as to stream an exclusive gameplay preview on Netflix in August showcasing cutscenes and open-world mechanics. Yet the company remains tight-lipped about anything running outside of a Sony or Microsoft machine.

For now, the timeline stays an unconfirmed insider projection. Rockstar has pulled release dates backward and pushed them forward across nearly every major project in its portfolio. Until the publisher prints a PC badge on an official trailer, keyboard-and-mouse players will have to keep an eye on early 2027 calendars.
