iOS 27.2 Arrives for Every iPhone, Folding iPhone Duo Back In

Apple pushed out iOS 27.2 on Monday, closing a beta cycle that started September 16, just two days after iOS 27 itself landed with Siri AI as its headline feature. The update matters for a reason that has nothing to do with new features: it puts every iPhone back on the same software track.

When the iPhone Duo launched last week, it shipped with iOS 27.1, a version number that never reached any other iPhone. That split is over. With iOS 27.2 out, the iPhone Duo and everything else Apple sells are running the same build again, and future updates will roll out together rather than on separate paths.

Siri AI and FaceTime get wider reach

Siri AI, the assistant overhaul Apple introduced with iOS 27, now works in five languages, up from launch day, and Apple's release notes describe several feature additions on top of that expanded language support.

FaceTime picks up two changes. Dual Capture, which lets a caller show both the front and rear cameras at once so the other person sees your face and whatever you're filming, now works on Group FaceTime calls for the first time. It still needs an iPhone 17 or newer, and every participant has to be on iOS 27 or later for it to kick in. Separately, FaceTime calls can now bring in a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner.

Sports streaming comes to the iPhone screen

The TV app gains Multiview on iPhone for the first time, letting someone watch up to four live sports streams at once, Apple lists MLS, F1 and MLB as supported. The Apple TV app also adds profile support on iPhone, a feature that has existed on tvOS for years but never made it to the phone until now.

Apple Podcasts reorganizes its Up Next queue into two new rows, New Episodes for shows you follow and Continue Playing for anything in progress, sorted by most recent. Episode lists now carry color-matched backgrounds pulled from each show's artwork.

Messages suggestions return, Apple Music gets a new face

A Messages feature that added one-tap shortcuts to send things straight to Calendar or Reminders appeared in early iOS 27 betas, got pulled before launch, and is back in iOS 27.2.

Apple Music carries a new app icon and an interface refresh as part of the broader Apple Music rebrand the company debuted last week, including a shift from red accent colors to blue throughout the app.

Apple also says iOS 27.2 includes two features specific to the iPhone Duo, without detailing what they are in its public notes, alongside a round of security fixes touching Mail, Safari, Apple Intelligence and the Neural Engine.

The update is rolling out now through Settings for anyone on iOS 27 or the iPhone Duo's iOS 27.1. With the branches merged, the next update, whatever Apple numbers it, should land for the whole lineup at once.
