iOS 27.2 Gives Siri Memory of Past Chats and Adds Anniversary Reminders

Apple's October 26 update also brings a Messages suggestions feature held back since the iOS 27 betas, a settings menu to limit what Siri can see, and new Apple TV kids' profiles.

Apple pushed iOS 27.2 out on October 26, and buried under the FaceTime headline features is a longer list of changes that quietly reshape how Siri, Messages and a handful of built-in apps behave.

The biggest shift is to Siri AI's memory. It can now recall things it told you earlier, so asking "what was that restaurant you suggested last week" actually works instead of starting from zero every time. Apple says Siri is also pulling from more places to answer questions, including photos attached in Messages, Calendar attendees, voicemails, Safari history and your Reading List. The assistant now understands French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish on top of English, though Apple still isn't offering Siri AI in the EU or mainland China. The feature itself requires an iPhone 16 or later, or an iPhone 15 Pro or 15 Pro Max.

For anyone uneasy about an AI assistant reading that much of their phone, Apple added a dedicated screen for it. Settings > Siri > Excluded Apps lets you pick exactly which apps Siri, Search and system suggestions are allowed to touch, all from one list rather than hunting through individual app permissions. There's also granular text selection in Siri's responses now, so you can copy just the sentence you need instead of the whole answer.

Messages finally gets its suggestions feature

Suggestions in Messages showed up during the iOS 27 betas and then got pulled before launch. It's back in 27.2. The feature reads context in a conversation and offers quick actions, like dropping a Calendar invite for a dinner someone just proposed or creating a Reminder from something you agreed to.

A smaller but genuinely useful addition sits in Call Context: dial someone you've tagged with an anniversary date in Contacts, and the app reminds you before you pick up. Apple's own documentation calls it out for a reason. Forget your anniversary and that's on you now, not your phone.

Photos, Apple TV and the Games app pick up small updates

Shared Albums in Photos can now avoid duplicate uploads, let participants edit captions and comments, and warn before an album is set to expire so nobody loses photos when it closes. Photos and Image Playground also support SynthID watermarking, Google's system for flagging AI-generated or AI-edited images, which should make it easier to tell when a picture in a shared album wasn't actually taken by anyone.

Apple TV gains iPhone-managed profiles, so a household can set up separate adult and child accounts with PG content limits by default and finer age-rating controls on top. The Apple TV app's Multiview, previously limited to the big screen, now works on iPhone too, letting you watch up to four live sports streams at once across MLS, F1 and Friday Night Baseball doubleheaders.

And for iPhone Duo owners, 27.2 adds Apple Pencil USB-C support, alongside the FaceTime Dual Capture and Edge Light features that shipped the same day. IOS 27.2 is live now through Settings > General > Software Update, though Apple notes some features won't show up on every model or in every region.
