Apple has released ‘Step into the Light’, a Diwali-themed short film shot entirely on the iPhone 18 Pro — and it’s live now on Apple India’s YouTube channel and Apple’s global Instagram account. No launch, no specs dump, no price drop: just a polished, low-light-heavy production filmed at Tijara Fort in Rajasthan, directed by Raw Mango founder Sanjay Garg.

The iPhone 18 Pro is the sole camera used, no rigs, no gimbals, no secondary devices. That’s the pitch. And the timing is deliberate: Diwali week, India front and centre, with Juhi Chawla making a cameo alongside dancers from across the country. The film leans hard into symbolism, darkness to light, tradition to modernity, and uses regional dress, folk music (a reimagined Anu Malik track), and handwoven textiles sourced from multiple Indian states.

Those textiles? Their colour palette matches the iPhone 18 Pro’s hardware finishes. Apple doesn’t say what those finishes are, but the alignment is intentional. The behind-the-scenes feature, also published today, highlights two camera features in particular: the 48MP Fusion Main sensor’s variable aperture (six laser-cut blades, opening to ƒ/1.48 in dim light), and smart focus-tracking during group choreography.

Neither spec appears in any official Apple press release or product page, both are presented here as functional elements of the shoot. No Indian price for the iPhone 18 Pro is mentioned in either source. No availability date is given. No pre-order link appears.

This is not a product announcement. It’s a campaign, one that treats the iPhone 18 Pro as a finished, shipped device, capable of professional-grade cinematography in challenging conditions. The film drops while the Galaxy S27 sits cleared by India’s BIS and the iPhone 18 Pro remains unlisted on Apple India’s website.

So yes: it exists. It’s in use. And Apple is showing, not telling, what it can do, in India, for India, on Diwali.
