Apple has confirmed the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max — not as a foldable, not as a radical redesign, but as a quiet, calibrated upgrade to last year’s flagship. The phones launch globally on 18 October 2026, with pre-orders opening Friday, 11 October at 5 a.m. ET / 3:30 p.m. IST. Prices start at $1199 for the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro (6.3-inch), and $1299 for the same storage in the 6.9-inch Pro Max, both $100 more than their iPhone 17 Pro counterparts. In India, that translates to ₹1,04,900 and ₹1,13,900 respectively, according to Apple’s local pricing page cited by What Hi-Fi?. Though Apple India has not yet published those figures publicly. The jump is steeper at higher tiers: the 1TB model costs $1799 ($1899 for Pro Max), and a new 2TB option launches at $2399 ($2499). No UK or EU pricing was disclosed beyond the £1199 / £1299 baseline quoted for the UK market. All models retain IP68 water resistance and Ceramic Shield 2 front and back. Weight is up just 7g to 211g for the Pro. Dimensions are unchanged. New finishes are Black, Glacier, Burgundy, and returning Silver, no Cosmic Orange-style pop this year. The A20 Pro chip delivers up to 20% faster CPU and 40% faster GPU performance over the A19 Pro, aided by a larger vapour chamber for sustained workloads. Battery life improves to 34 hours of video playback (Pro) and 43 hours (Pro Max), up from 31 and 37 hours. Fast charging hits 50% in ~15 minutes. But only with a 60W charger featuring Adjustable Voltage Supply, which Apple does not include. The headline camera change is a variable-aperture 48MP Fusion Main lens, with six laser-cut blades thinner than a human hair that physically open and close to adjust light intake and depth of field, the only mainstream phone shipping with this hardware today. Siri AI arrives in beta, deeply integrated with messages, calendar and email, but it’s not exclusive: Apple confirms it rolls out to iPhone 15 Pro and later. Audio and display hardware remain nearly identical to the 17 Pro, but What Hi-Fi? Notes subtle gains in picture contrast and headphone audio fidelity. Though the screen is less cinematically warm than before. The iPhone 18 Pro isn’t about reinvention. It’s about refinement, and paying for it.
