IQOO introduced the Pad Pro 8.8 in China on Wednesday, a compact tablet built for gaming that sits below the iQOO Pad Ultra in the company's lineup. It runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip paired with up to 16GB of RAM, and iQOO has thrown in a second chip of its own, called Q3, that handles graphics duty alongside Qualcomm's silicon.

Neither iQOO nor the outlets that covered the launch have given a price yet, in China or anywhere else. There's no word on whether the Pad Pro 8.8 is coming to India at all.

The screen is an 8.8-inch OLED panel running at 2.3K resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate, which is quick even by tablet standards. IQOO says the bezels run 2.65mm thin and the screen-to-body ratio hits 93.3 percent, numbers aimed squarely at people who'll be holding this thing in landscape mode for hours.

Gaming is clearly the point here. IQOO's Q3 chip works with something it calls the QNSS super-rendering engine to handle 2K super-resolution upscaling, full-scene ray tracing and frame interpolation, which smooths out motion in games that support it. A separate system, the Monster super-core engine, is supposed to shuffle compute resources around in real time so the tablet doesn't choke under heavy load.

There's a pile of smaller gaming-focused features too. An FPS dark-area enhancement filter brightens shadowy corners in competitive shooters. Multi-finger jitter suppression and edge anti-mistouch zoning are meant to stop stray touches from ruining a match, and the gyroscope samples motion at up to 500Hz for aim controls in games built to use it.

Cooling and battery

To keep the dual-chip setup from overheating, iQOO has packed in what it calls the Ice Dome quad-layer air-cooling system, an active-passive cooling architecture that includes a physical cooling fan inside the tablet. That's not a common sight in slates this size, and it signals how hard iQOO expects the Pad Pro 8.8 to be pushed during extended gaming sessions.

Battery capacity lands at 9,020mAh, built on what iQOO describes as fourth-generation silicon-carbon anode technology and a second-generation semi-solid-state design, both aimed at packing more charge into the same space. Gadgets 360 reports 66W wired charging support, which should get a battery this size back up reasonably fast given its size.

For now, the Pad Pro 8.8 is a China-only product with specifications but no confirmed price in any market. Whether iQOO brings it to India, where the company already sells phones and the Pad Ultra, will depend on an announcement that hasn't come yet. Until then, Indian buyers hunting for a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 tablet don't have an official launch date to work with.
