IQOO Neo 12 is official — and it lands in China on October 28 at 7 PM local time. Sales begin the same evening, iQOO confirmed via Weibo and in press materials cited by Notebookcheck and Gizbot.

This isn’t a teaser or leak. It’s a confirmed launch: the Neo 12 replaces the Neo 11 as iQOO’s performance-focused mid-tier flagship, now built around Qualcomm’s unreleased Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, not the Gen 4 or original Snapdragon 8 Elite found in earlier Neo models.

The chip sits alongside iQOO’s self-developed Q3 gaming chip and an updated Monster Super Core Engine. A new active cooling fan joins the Ice Dome system. A first for the Neo line, meant to sustain high frame rates during extended sessions.

Battery capacity jumps sharply: 9,000mAh, up from 7,500mAh in the Neo 11. That’s a 20% increase, achieved via a single-cell Blue Ocean battery using fifth-generation silicon-anode tech. Energy density hits 916Wh/L. Unusually high for a smartphone, and charging tops out at 100W wired.

The display shifts to 2K resolution and a 185Hz refresh rate, beating the Neo 11’s 144Hz panel. It uses pTSF OLED light-emitting technology co-developed with Visionox and Tsinghua University. IQOO claims 2,200 nits full-screen peak brightness, XDR dynamic range enhancement, circular polarization, and a 1-nit sleep screen.

Touch response is tuned for gaming: same touch chip as the iQOO 16, supporting up to 5,000Hz instant sampling and 500Hz multi-touch sampling. IQOO says over 50 games will run natively at 2K + 185fps, with super-resolution and frame interpolation active simultaneously. Full-scene ray tracing and Q-Flex controls are also supported.

Design gets a new finish called Zhengfeng. A dynamic texture that shifts light as you tilt the phone, developed with the China Academy of Art. The rear features a square camera module and a metal frame.

No pricing. No variants. No mention of India, the US, or any market beyond China.

That silence matters. IQOO has launched Neo phones globally before. The Neo 9 Pro reached India in early 2025, for example, but this time, there’s zero indication of international rollout. The Neo 12 appears targeted squarely at Chinese gamers who prioritize raw specs over ecosystem integration or long-term software support.

It also arrives just as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 starts appearing in other OEMs’ flagships. Meaning benchmarks and real-world comparisons against devices like the upcoming iQOO 16 or OnePlus 13 Pro will shape how buyers weigh its 9,000mAh claim against thermal trade-offs and app compatibility.

What happens next? Launch night in China, then watch for early hands-on reports, battery drain tests, and whether iQOO drops a whisper about overseas plans before year-end.
