Best Buy has cut the price of the 48-inch LG B6 OLED TV in half, down to $599.99, as part of a pre-Black Friday promotion, according to Notebookcheck. The size and price combination is exclusive to the retailer, and it lands at a moment when OLED panels that once cost well over a thousand dollars have become realistic options for smaller rooms and desks.
The B6 is LG's entry-level OLED set for 2026, sitting below the mid-range C6 in brightness. That makes it a weaker fit for living rooms with big windows or bedrooms with harsh overhead lighting, since its glossy coating is prone to glare. Rtings' review of the set, cited by Notebookcheck, found relatively few other drawbacks once that limitation is accounted for.
What the B6 does share with its pricier siblings is LG's WOLED panel technology, which produces what amounts to infinite contrast because individual pixels can switch off entirely for true black. That's the trait horror movies and dark gaming scenes depend on, and it's the reason OLED has stayed the reference point for picture quality even as LCD and mini-LED sets have closed the brightness gap. Dolby Vision and HDR content still get a boost in brighter scenes, according to Notebookcheck.
A desk-friendly alternative to 4K monitors
At 48 inches, the B6 has found a second audience: PC users who find standard 4K monitors too small and want something closer to a wall of pixels on their desk. A 92 pixels-per-inch density and an RGBW subpixel arrangement are said to keep text legible at that size, and WebOS 26 brings Netflix, Disney+ and other streaming apps directly to the screen without a separate box.
The catch is space. A 48-inch panel needs a much deeper desk than a typical monitor, so this is a setup for people who have already committed to going big.
On the gaming side, the B6 tops out at 120Hz, lower than dedicated gaming monitors that push 144Hz or higher, but Notebookcheck notes that's still enough to match the Xbox Series X and PS5 at their ceiling. Four HDMI 2.1 ports support high-bandwidth signals for 4K at high frame rates, and Nvidia G-Sync support is available to smooth out frame pacing in fast-moving shooters.
The closest rival at this size is Samsung's S85H, sold through Amazon. Notebookcheck's comparison found it offers no meaningful performance edge over the B6 and skips Dolby Vision support entirely, which leaves the discounted LG set as the stronger value pick among 48-inch OLED options right now.
Best Buy had the $599.99 price live when Notebookcheck reported it Thursday evening. Retail prices on promotional deals like this one can change or sell out without notice, so anyone eyeing the B6 at that figure should check current stock before assuming it holds through the actual Black Friday weekend.
