Indian festive sales have kicked off a direct duel in the sub-Rs 32,000 bracket, with Motorola and Samsung slashing prices on two closely matched mid-range handsets.

On Flipkart, the Motorola Edge 70 Fusion was listed at Rs 30,999 for its 8GB RAM and 128GB storage trim during the Big Billion Days sale, marked down 38 percent from an MRP of Rs 49,999. Across on Amazon's Great Indian Festival Sale 2026, the Samsung Galaxy A56 5G was listed at Rs 31,999 for the identical 8GB and 128GB configuration, down from an MRP of Rs 49,999. That leaves just Rs 1,000 separating the pair before optional bank discounts, cashback, and trade-in bonuses enter the picture.

The two phones take contrasting approaches to mid-range hardware. Motorola leans heavily into battery endurance and display specifications. The Edge 70 Fusion packs a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon cell paired with 68W TurboPower charging. By contrast, Samsung equips the Galaxy A56 5G with a 5,000mAh pack that supports 45W wired charging.

Up front, the Edge 70 Fusion carries a 6.8-inch quad-curved Extreme AMOLED panel refreshing at 144Hz, with HDR10+ support, Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and a claimed peak brightness of 5,200 nits. Samsung counters with a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED screen running at 120Hz and maxing out at 1,200 nits. While Motorola claims higher brightness and a faster refresh rate, Digit highlighted Samsung's panel calibration and color accuracy as competitive strengths.

Under the hood, the Edge 70 Fusion relies on Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. Samsung fits its proprietary Exynos 1580 silicon. Digit reported that Samsung's chip delivered slightly higher multi-core scores in Geekbench benchmarking.

Software support presents a key trade-off for buyers. The Galaxy A56 5G ships on Android 15 with One UI 7, backed by Samsung's commitment to six years of software updates. Motorola ships the Edge 70 Fusion with Android 16 under its Hello UI skin, but the company promises three major OS upgrades alongside five years of security patches.

Camera hardware shows divergent priorities as well. Motorola uses a dual rear setup led by a 50-megapixel primary sensor from Sony alongside an ultra-wide camera, complemented by a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. Samsung outfits the Galaxy A56 5G with three rear sensors: a 50-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, and a 5-megapixel macro lens, alongside a 12-megapixel selfie sensor.

Samsung has doubled down on the price tier during the festival window. On Amazon, the Korean brand also listed the Galaxy M56 5G at Rs 31,999 for its 8GB and 128GB model, featuring an Exynos 1480 processor and a 5,000mAh battery.

Both the Motorola and Samsung promotional prices remain live across Flipkart and Amazon while festive inventories last.
