Motorola Signature 27 scores 173 in DXOMARK’s latest camera benchmark — one point above the iPhone 18 Pro, two below the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra. The result marks Motorola’s highest-ever placement in the ranking and its first time ahead of Apple’s latest Pro model in the test. The score is up nine points from the original Motorola Signature, which scored 164 in the same 6th Edition image benchmark.

The phone launched yesterday. It’s not a global launch yet: no pricing or availability details were released for the US or India. Gizmochina reports only that it went on sale “yesterday”, no region specified. That leaves the headline number standing alone: 173.

Not a lab measurement. Not a leak. Not a rumor. A published DXOMARK score, the kind reviewers and buyers use to compare real-world photo and video consistency across flagships.

DXOMARK calls the Signature 27 “well-balanced”, with particular strength in portraits: natural skin tones, accurate exposure, fine detail, and reliable focus across group shots where subjects stand at varying distances. Its 3x optical telephoto holds up to ~6x digital zoom before detail visibly drops. Video gets similar marks, stable exposure, natural colour, low noise in static scenes.

But it’s not flawless. Zoom beyond 6x loses sharpness fast. Very dark scenes introduce colour shifts and patchy detail. Fast motion, whether in photos or video, blurs more than top rivals.

Those weaknesses keep it from overtaking the Pura 80 Ultra’s 175. The iPhone 18 Pro sits at 172. So yes: this is the first time a Motorola phone has outscored an iPhone Pro in DXOMARK’s current methodology. No price.

No Indian BIS filing cited. No US FCC listing mentioned. No carrier partnerships announced. Just the score.

And the fact that Motorola now has a camera phone ranked second in the world, at least according to one widely watched benchmark. Motorola hasn’t confirmed GrapheneOS support either. That claim appears only in unattributed social chatter, not in Gizmochina’s report, not in any official statement, not in DXOMARK’s review.

If it ships with GrapheneOS, that detail hasn’t been verified. What’s next? DXOMARK says its full review, including sample images, video clips, and deeper analysis of those low-light and motion limitations, drops tomorrow. Motorola’s next move is silence.

Or a price announcement. Or both. We’ll know by Thursday.
