Pikmin 4 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition launches 12 November — no new games announced, but voice commands and Dandori Academy arrive with it. The $79.99 bundle hits the Nintendo eShop globally on that date, with a playable demo dropping tomorrow, 2 November. Progress carries over to the full release. A $19.99 upgrade pack is available for owners of the original Pikmin 4 on Nintendo Switch.

No price is given for the standalone Switch 2 Edition digital version, only the bundle. The physical bundle includes a copy of Pikmin 4 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and a themed dock. Nintendo confirmed all this during its surprise Pikmin Day Direct on 31 October, a broadcast timed to coincide with the newly declared 1 November as official Pikmin Day.

Shigeru Miyamoto appeared in person, introduced Japanese actor Fuka Koshiba as the series’ new ambassador, and reiterated Nintendo’s stance: generative AI won’t replace human creativity. The Switch 2 Edition adds three key features over the 2023 original: Dandori Academy, a timed exam mode with challenges like Gargantuan Garden, where players collect gold nuggets before time runs out.

Voice command support for Oatchi, the dog companion. And native Switch 2 hardware integration, including motion controls and HD Rumble enhancements not possible on the original console. This isn’t a remaster or port. It’s a re-release built for the Switch 2’s upgraded CPU, GPU, and microphone array, and it arrives just one week after The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake launches on 5 November.

That timing matters: Nintendo is using its two biggest franchises back-to-back to anchor the Switch 2’s early software lineup. No other Switch 2-exclusive titles were announced during the Direct. Nintendo explicitly warned viewers ahead of the stream that no new game announcements would be made, only Pikmin 4 enhancements and branding.

The demo goes live on the eShop at midnight local time on 2 November. Full launch follows on 12 November.
