Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro and Buds3 Pro will gain FDA- and Korean-approved hearing aid functionality in early 2027 — starting in South Korea. The update adds two medically cleared features: a clinical-grade Hearing Test and an adaptive Hearing Aid mode, both built into the earbuds’ firmware via software. No hardware change.

No new model. Just a certified upgrade for devices already on sale. The US rollout date remains unannounced, even though the FDA clearance came first, back in summer 2026. Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) just followed suit.

That means owners of either model in India, Europe or elsewhere won’t get it until Samsung confirms regional timing, if at all. No word yet on whether the feature will land outside the US and Korea. The Hearing Test uses pure-tone air conduction audiometry, single-frequency tones played separately to each ear, to generate an audiogram.

It classifies hearing across seven levels: normal through profound. The Hearing Aid then applies NAL-NL2, a globally recognised prescription algorithm, to amplify only the frequencies you miss. It’s designed for adults 18+ with mild to moderate hearing loss. No audiologist needed.

Results and noise exposure data sync to Samsung Health. This isn’t new tech repackaged. Samsung has been iterating since 2020, when the Galaxy Buds+ got basic sound amplification. Clinical testing in 2021 showed real-world benefit in conversation.

Now it’s regulated medical software, not just an assistive toggle. Rollout begins in Korea in early 2027. US owners wait. Everyone else waits longer, or indefinitely.
