RedMagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro adds a 1TB storage option in China — priced at CNY 6,999 (~$1,048), launching November 9 at 8 p.m. Local time. It’s the first time this configuration has appeared on the device, and it’s exclusive to the China-market variant for now. No global rollout date or pricing has been announced.
The tablet runs Android and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, not Gen 6, despite recent rumors linking that newer chip to Samsung’s Galaxy S27 line. That distinction matters: if you’re searching for ‘Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5’, this is the only confirmed device shipping with it right now.
Not a phone. Not a laptop. A tablet. And a gaming one, at that. 9.06-inch OLED. 185Hz refresh rate.
Liquid cooling. 8,300mAh battery. No microSD slot, so yes, 1TB helps. But only if you’re buying in China. The global version, sold as the RedMagic Astra 2, caps out at 512GB and doesn’t support expansion either.
Its highest-tier config is 16GB/512GB, same RAM, half the storage, no price disclosed outside China. The original Astra did offer 24GB/1TB, but that model is discontinued. So this isn’t a return, it’s a new top tier, locked to one market, for now. No word on whether RedMagic will bring it to India or the US.
No mention of GrapheneOS, no Pixel-style privacy spin. Just raw spec density: OLED, high Hz, big battery, flagship silicon. And a very specific, very narrow window to buy it, Saturday night, Beijing time.
