Sony is refreshing its subscription library this month with a mix of gritty crime, robotic sci-fi, and retro survival horror. The October PlayStation Plus update puts Mafia: The Old Country and Horizon Forbidden West in front of subscribers, backed by an unreleased day-one shooter and two older favorites arriving for the Premium tier.
The bulk of the lineup unlocks on October 20. But release dates split slightly across regions, with certain horror and racing downloads held back until the final week of the month.
The Headline Additions
Leading the PS5 side is Mafia: The Old Country. The narrative action game drops players into 1900s Sicily, tracing Enzo Favara's climb through the island's brutal syndicates. It arrives alongside Horizon Forbidden West across both PS5 and PS4, sending Aloy back into machine-infested western territories for players who missed her sophomore outing.
Subscribers also get immediate access to Mycopunk on launch day, October 20. The cooperative four-player shooter assigns teams of discarded robots to push back an invasive planetary fungus, relying on extensive gear modding and weapon crafting.
Staggered Drops and Classic Ports
Other catalog arrivals follow a split calendar. The Midnight Walk, a dark fantasy rendered with stop-motion claymation on PS5 and PS VR2, arrived early, reaching the US and UK on October 14 before landing in Japan on October 15.
Three titles follow on October 27 in the US, UK, and Japan:
- Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2 on PS4 and PS5, continuing puzzle runs through the Playtime Co. Factory.
- Bandai Namco's Tales of Arise: Beyond the Dawn Edition, bundling the base RPG with its story expansion on both generations.
- Monster Energy Supercross 25: The Official Video Game, built on Unreal Engine 5 for PS5.
Sony is also stocking the Classics library for PlayStation Plus Premium members. Capcom's PS1-era survival action title Dino Crisis 2 arrives for PS4 and PS5, packing heavier firepower against prehistoric threats in dense jungle maps. It joins RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Complete Edition, giving theme park builders full access to classic career paths alongside an unconstrained sandbox mode.
Premium members will find two extra time-limited game trials starting October 20: Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and Mortal Shell II. Those sit alongside existing demo slots for games including Valheim, Directive 8020, and The Sinking City 2. Sony is pairing the new software drop with seasonal Halloween store markdowns across supported regions through the end of the month.
