Sony's Ult Wear wireless headphones were marked down to $130 on Amazon when Android Police reported the discount on Wednesday afternoon. That represents a 48 percent reduction against the original retail price, putting the hardware just two dollars above the lowest price recorded on the storefront.
Top-tier audio equipment from Sony frequently climbs past $300, which puts the flagship 1000X line out of reach for shoppers watching their budget. The Ult Wear lineup targets listeners who want the company's brand name, reliable connectivity, and noise suppression without crossing into that premium price territory. Android Police evaluated the set multiple times and gave the cans positive marks, though prospective buyers need to know exactly how Sony tuned them.
Bass Tuning and Equalizer Controls
Sony engineered this specific pair to push massive low-end sound. The emphasis on heavy bass dominates the default acoustic profile. Android Police warned that the sheer volume of thump can feel overwhelming, even for dedicated bass heads who seek out heavy rumble.
Beneath that bottom-heavy presentation, the underlying drivers remain competent. If the stock sound signature feels like too much, the hardware pairs with Sony's companion mobile application. The software lets users adjust the equalizer and dial back the lower frequencies to land on a balance that suits their listening preferences.
Controls, Design, and Noise Cancellation
The physical design avoids flashy styling, using a clean look intended to blend into everyday settings. The earcups pivot and fold down flat, which simplifies packing them away in a backpack or carry-on bag during travel. Long listening sessions remain comfortable on the head, according to Android Police's testing, without creating unwanted pressure points.
For playback navigation, Sony combined traditional physical buttons with capacitive touch panels directly on the earcups. That layout avoids the frustration of relying solely on touch swipes in the cold or fumbling for tiny toggles.
Active noise cancellation handles outside distractions by filtering out environmental clatter. Android Police observed that while the system will not match the market's strongest noise cancellers, it eliminates enough ambient rumble to keep music clear in noisy spaces.
Battery endurance reaches around 30 hours on a single charge. If the battery runs completely flat before a commute, plugging in for a rapid three-minute charge supplies roughly 90 minutes of listening time.
Amazon has not said how long the $130 promotional pricing will remain active.
