Sony WH-CH530 wireless headphones launch globally at $70 — $10 more than the WH-CH520’s original $59 price, but with Bluetooth 6.0, LC3 codec support, Auracast sharing, and 55-hour battery life. They’re available now in Black, White, Pink, Mint, Cobalt and Coral. The WH-CH520 remains on sale in some markets for as low as $34, down from its $59 launch price. And still ships with Bluetooth 5.2, SBC and AAC only, and a 50-hour battery. Both are on-ear, weigh under 150g (147g vs 150g), use identical 30mm full-range dynamic drivers, and lack ANC, a deliberate omission at this tier. Neither model has noise cancellation. The CH530 adds a 10-band EQ (up from five), volume limiting, and full DSEE and 360 Reality Audio support via Sony’s Connect app. The CH520 uses the older Sound Connect app and misses Auracast, LC3, and Google Fast Pair’s latest refinements. Physical differences are minimal: the CH530 swaps printed logos for embossed ones, moves L/R labels inside the earcups, and shrinks the power button slightly. Both feel nearly identical on the head. What Hi-Fi? Calls the CH530’s sound “well-balanced, expressive and surprisingly enjoyable”. More insightful than expected at this price, while the CH520 delivers “deep, solid” bass and an “informative” midrange. The upgrade isn’t about radical redesign. It’s about bringing next-gen Bluetooth features to the budget segment without raising the price into mid-tier territory. That $70 US launch price matches the £50 UK and AU$100 Australian figures cited by What Hi-Fi?. In India, no local pricing is reported. Yet. The WH-CH530 is shipping now. The WH-CH520 remains widely available, especially at discount. As What Hi-Fi? Puts it: ‘The eagle-eyed among you will be sure to notice that these two budget headphones look almost identical. Their similarities aren’t just cosmetic, either. There is a significant amount of hardware shared between designs.’ And while the CH530 promises ‘a major sonic boost’ over its predecessor, the review concludes that, feature-for-feature and fit-for-fit, ‘we are going to have to call a draw’, the real win is having both options on the market at once.
