Vivo has brought its flagship folding handset to international buyers, putting heavy mobile imaging glass inside a foldable frame.

The Vivo X Fold6 is available across global markets, carrying a European price tag of €2,200. Vivo has not announced dedicated pricing for the United States or India, where the company frequently staggers releases or limits availability for its most expensive hardware.

While most book-style foldables trade camera hardware for slimness, Vivo is pushing optical performance on this phone. The device carries a rear setup engineered alongside Zeiss, led by a 200-megapixel primary sensor measuring Type 1/1.4 with a 23mm f/1.7 lens. For zoom, it relies on a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto unit that uses a Type 1/1.95 sensor behind a 70mm f/2.6 lens. An ultrawide camera rounds out the module, pairing a 50-megapixel Type 1/2.76 sensor with a 15mm-equivalent f/2.1 lens.

Big Glass and a Taller Frame

The telephoto system also supports Vivo's Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2 accessory. In its promotional materials, Vivo pitches the package as a "flagship Zeiss imaging system" designed "to move from documenting the journey to capturing the people in it."

Inside, the phone unfolds to an 8-inch panel capable of reaching a local peak brightness of 5,000 nits. Vivo chose to stick with a taller vertical posture for the outer profile instead of following the squatter, passport-style designs recently seen elsewhere in the industry. Xiaomi moved in that wider direction with its 18 Fold, and Apple's upcoming iPhone Duo is set to use a shorter 7.6-inch form factor.

That difference in exterior geometry directly shapes what fits inside. Thinner, compact shells often force manufacturers to slash sensor area. Apple's approaching Duo relies on two rear sensors with no dedicated periscope glass, instead asking a 48-megapixel main camera to crop in for 2x portraits. Vivo took the opposite route, packing large sensors and a folded optical zoom into its casing.

The camera package does not fully match the company's dedicated slab flagship, the X500 Pro Max, but it comes closer than previous generations managed. European retail availability began Thursday, with rollout dates and pricing for other territories expected to follow as shipments expand.
