Xiaomi has launched the NPB1055R: a 10,000mAh portable power bank with a retractable USB-C cable, real-time digital display, and compliance with China’s strictest battery safety standard to date.
The device is now available exclusively on Xiaomi’s Youpin platform in China for 299 yuan — approximately $45 at current exchange rates. It comes in three color options: Deep Titanium, Titanium Gold, and Iris Purple.
At 90 x 50 x 41 mm and 260 grams, it sits between compact and travel-ready. Its most distinctive feature is a 70 cm (2.3-foot) retractable USB-C cable embedded at the top, pull to extend, pull again to retract. That eliminates one more cable to pack, though it does add bulk compared to ultra-slim alternatives like the 204 g Oppo Pocket Charge.
Three output ports let users charge up to three devices simultaneously: the retractable USB-C cable itself, a second USB-C port on the bottom, and a standard USB-A port. Both USB-C outputs support up to 55W fast charging using PPS and AVS protocols. The USB-A port caps at 22.5W. Enough for earbuds, wearables, or older phones.
When multiple ports are active, total output drops to 15W, as is typical for power banks in this class. Recharging the NPB1055R itself takes up to 45W input via either USB-C port.
Xiaomi claims the unit can charge an iPhone 17 Pro from zero to 64% in 30 minutes, and a Xiaomi 17 Pro to 67% in the same window. It delivers roughly one full charge to the Xiaomi 17 Pro, or about 1.3 charges to the iPhone 17 Pro. For tablets, it pushes the 11-inch iPad Air M3 to 33% in half an hour.
A small color digital display, hidden under the front panel until activated. Shows remaining battery percentage, real-time output wattage, operating temperature, and battery health metrics including cycle count.
Safety is central to the launch. The NPB1055R complies with China’s newly enforced GB 47372-2026 standard. Xiaomi says its lithium-ion cells passed nail penetration tests, 14kN compression, and one-hour exposure to 135°C heat, far beyond typical UL or IEC requirements. Overvoltage, short-circuit, and overheating protections are also built in.
The 10,000mAh capacity translates to 38.32Wh. Well under the 100Wh limit that triggers airline restrictions for carry-on lithium batteries. That makes it suitable for air travel without special approval.
No global rollout has been announced. Xiaomi has not confirmed availability in India, the US, or Europe. At present, the NPB1055R remains a China-only product sold through Youpin.
That leaves buyers outside mainland China waiting, or looking elsewhere. Competing 10,000mAh units with 55W output, like Anker’s PowerCore 10000 PD Redux or Baseus’ 55W model, retail for $69–$79 in the US and Rs 5,999–Rs 7,499 in India. Xiaomi’s 299 yuan price point would undercut them. If and when it arrives internationally.
