Apple's first dedicated smart display is officially here. The company introduced HomeView on Tuesday, setting a $299 price tag on an A18-powered hub built around a square 7-inch screen and conversational Siri AI.

Pre-orders opened immediately in the United States, India, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, with Singapore following on October 15. In-store availability starts Friday, November 13. European buyers will have to sit this one out entirely, as Apple is holding the device back from the European Union over local regulatory hurdles surrounding its Siri AI platform. While Apple confirmed pre-orders are live in India, it has not yet posted a standalone rupee figure on local listings.

HomeView comes in two physical formats. The standard desktop version uses a rounded aluminum foot connected to a tilt-adjustable hinge, holding the display aloft. For living spaces with less counter room, a dedicated wall-mount edition strips away the foot and relies on third-party mounting hardware from Schneider Home, sold separately. Desktop buyers get a choice of silver, starlight, rose pink, or space gray alongside color-matched power cables, while the wall edition sticks to silver and space gray.

Square Canvas and Living Room Audio

The screen itself is unusual for a modern smart display. Apple went with a 1:1 aspect ratio, fitting a 7-inch LCD panel at 1088x1088 resolution. That works out to 220 pixels per inch. Brightness stretches from a daytime peak of 500 nits down to 0.3 nits at night, covered by an oleophobic glass finish and ambient True Tone color adjustment.

Audio hardware differs across the two models. Both share two full-range drivers tucked directly into the display housing. The desktop edition takes sound much further by adding a downfiring woofer and two force-cancelling passive radiators inside the weighted aluminum base. Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio is supported, with Apple using real-time computational audio processing to tune acoustic output to the surrounding room.

A 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera sits up front with an f/2.4 aperture. Center Stage handles automated cropping to keep you in frame on video calls. For general connectivity, the hub packs Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax with MIMO), Bluetooth 6.0, and a Thread radio for smart home mesh networks.

Siri AI and Multi-User Household Profiles

The software is custom-built around the A18 processor. HomeView is a localized console for Siri with Apple Intelligence, allowing family members to initiate a conversation on the hub and pick it up later on an iPhone or iPad.

Personalization extends across the household. Up to six individuals can register their profiles on a single HomeView unit. Four far-field microphones identify who is speaking, unlocking private data such as personal widgets, email access, and iMessage replies only to recognized voices. Public household resources, including ambient music and shared iCloud photo libraries, stay accessible to anyone in the room. Safety monitoring is built in as well, with the microphone array trained to identify domestic smoke and carbon monoxide detector alarms.

Units ship to buyers on November 13 across initial launch regions.
