A power bank built specifically for the iPhone Duo's odd proportions is already cheaper than it launched, and the discount landed weeks before Black Friday officially starts.
CNET reported on Wednesday that Baseus' Picogo Air, a MagSafe battery pack designed around the Duo's shorter, wider body, was listed on Amazon at $15 off, with an extra $5 knocked off using the promo code PICOGO72F. That brings the price to $60, a 25% cut that CNET said was the lowest the Picogo Air has been listed at, based on data from the price-tracking tool Keepa. CNET noted the deal carried no stated expiration date at the time of its report.
The iPhone Duo arrived on shelves earlier this month, and its dimensions don't match the standard iPhone footprint, which has left most existing MagSafe accessories either too narrow or positioned to cover the camera bump. Baseus built the Picogo Air around that shape specifically. It's about 0.3 inches thick, slim enough to sit flush against the phone, and its magnetic ring is rated at 12 newtons, strong enough according to Baseus to keep the pack from sliding off in a pocket or bag.
On charging, the Picogo Air delivers 15 watts wirelessly through MagSafe or up to 25 watts over its USB-C port if you'd rather plug in. Baseus also built in overheat protection, standard on most modern battery packs but worth having given how close this one sits to the phone's glass back.
The catch is capacity. At 5,000 mAh, the Picogo Air isn't going to take an iPhone Duo from empty to full. CNET put the realistic top-up at around 60% on a single charge, which is fine for topping off during a day out but not a substitute for a wall charger overnight.
For anyone who wants more juice and doesn't mind giving up the Duo-specific fit, CNET also flagged a Belkin battery pack with double the capacity at 10,000 mAh. That one was listed 30% off at Amazon, putting it at $70, close to the Picogo Air's discounted price but with far more capacity if MagSafe alignment isn't the priority.
There aren't many other power banks built around the Duo's exact shape yet, which makes the Picogo Air something of a first mover rather than one option among many. Whether that changes by the time Black Friday deals properly kick in next month is the thing to watch. Prices on early holiday deals like this one tend to move without warning, so anyone eyeing the Picogo Air should check the current Amazon listing before assuming the $60 price and the code still hold.
