PlayStation 5 owners will need to clear serious solid-state drive space before jumping into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on October 23. Fresh platform listing data published by tracker account PlayStation Game Size on X reveals the base installation package sits at roughly 117GB.
That number only covers the initial footprint. It does not account for the standalone Warzone component, which requires another 42GB on its own, nor does it factor in optional DMZ packages.
Totaling the full suite of launch content packs pushes the installation close to 160GB. Gamers who opt into DMZ Pack 2 alongside shared update data tied to Black Ops 7 will quickly see requirements climb toward the 200GB mark.
Managing Content Packs Through COD HQ
Activision pared back the central Call of Duty HQ container last year, yet that launcher alone continues to chew through roughly 30GB of PS5 storage. The solo campaign alongside Warzone accounts for nearly 100GB on its own.
Players running low on internal capacity will have the option to separate their installs. Using the Call of Duty HQ hub, you can choose to strip out the narrative campaign once completed and preserve only active multiplayer modes. Even with modular downloads, the footprint is expected to balloon once seasonal content, extra competitive maps, and shared asset packages begin rolling out after the initial release.
Bloated installations have become standard practice for the franchise. Black Ops 7 occupies nearly 360GB on Sony's console when holding Call of Duty HQ, competitive multiplayer, and Warzone simultaneously. While Modern Warfare 4 starts off somewhat lighter than that high-water mark, a 160GB to 200GB commitment still demands a major chunk of usable drive space on standard hardware.
Modern Warfare 4 arrives worldwide on October 23, 2026, giving console players a short window to purge unused software before the download queues open.
