Apple has raised the price of the HomePod mini 2 to $149 in the US — up from $99 for the original, and bumped the Apple TV 4K to $299, up from $129 for the entry-level model just four months ago. Both devices launched at those higher prices in late June 2026, and Apple has not announced new hardware since. The HomePod mini 2 is not a redesigned speaker: it retains the same form factor, chip, and audio architecture as its predecessor. There is no official confirmation of new features beyond what Apple quietly shipped with the June update. And no public spec sheet revision has been issued. What changed is the sticker: $50 more for the speaker, $170 more for the base TV box. The jump is steeper when you stack them. As Daring Fireball’s John Gruber pointed out, buying a 128GB Apple TV 4K and two HomePod mini 2 units now costs $600, $250 more than the same bundle cost before late June. That’s nearly double the pre-increase total of $350. In India, Apple has not announced local pricing for either device. No Indian launch date or rupee price has been shared by Apple or reported by any outlet covering the June update. Gruber called the price hikes “much more striking” than any functional improvements. And he still considers the new Apple TV 4K “worth it” at $299. He also described the HomePod mini 2’s $149 tag as “reasonable,” though he noted the broader market already viewed the original’s $99 as “too high.” That tension remains unresolved: Apple hasn’t lowered prices, added features, or explained the rationale. It has simply moved the line. The HomePod mini 2 is available now. So is the Apple TV 4K at $299. Neither has a scheduled refresh. Neither has a discount window announced. You pay the new price, or you don’t buy.
