Best Buy listed the HP OmniBook X at $899.99 when 9to5Toys reported the promotion on October 12, 2026. The markdown cuts $600 off the machine's standard $1,500 retail price.
That makes it an unusual entry among current Copilot+ machines. Most laptops certified for Microsoft's local AI features arrive with 14-inch or 16-inch screens, aimed primarily at commuters who prize portability. Finding a 17.3-inch display on one of these machines below the $1,000 mark is far less common.
Under the hood, the OmniBook X runs on an Intel Core Ultra 7 chip. The processor incorporates a neural processing unit rated at 47 TOPS, clearing the hardware threshold required to run Copilot+ features locally on Windows.
There is, however, a noticeable contradiction in the reported hardware specifications. While 9to5Toys headlined the discount as covering an edition with 32GB of RAM and a 2TB solid-state drive, the outlet's own breakdown listed 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD instead. Anyone looking at the listing will want to inspect the exact configuration Best Buy serves at the discounted price before completing the purchase.
Beyond the silicon, the chassis houses a 17.3-inch full HD touchscreen framed inside a metal body. The broader footprint allows room for a full-size keyboard. Physical ports include two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports rated at 10Gbps, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. That avoids the minimalist port compromises common on smaller thin-and-light notebooks.
Laptops of this footprint usually serve as stationary desk replacements, where screen size and port versatility matter more than shaving grams off travel weight. For buyers who want those dimensions without paying flagship prices, the discount shifts the machine into a much more competitive bracket. Best Buy did not specify an expiration date for the reduced pricing, and inventory at this tier tends to fluctuate quickly.
