Apple's iOS 27.2 update, released this week, brings Multiview to the Apple TV app on iPhone for the first time. The feature lets a viewer watch up to four live sports streams at once on a single screen, something that until now only worked on Apple TV, iPad and Vision Pro, according to 9to5Mac.

Multiview covers any event included in an Apple TV subscription, which costs $14.99 a month on its own or comes bundled into Apple One. The Apple TV app's live sports lineup currently includes Formula 1, Major League Soccer and Major League Baseball, and those are the leagues where Multiview is showing up.

Turning it on is simple enough. Start watching a supported broadcast and a Multiview button appears at the bottom of the player. What happens next depends on the sport. For F1, Apple offers a preset layout built around the main race feed plus driver cameras and track maps, or lets viewers build a custom grid of their own choosing.

9to5Mac's Ryan Christoffel tried the feature on an iPhone 18 Pro during the Austin Grand Prix and said four separate F1 streams fit on the screen at once without anything feeling cramped, despite the phone's relatively small display. That's notable on its own, but Christoffel argued the feature will land even better on iPhone Duo, Apple's recently launched device with a larger screen, where four simultaneous feeds would have more room to spread out.

The timing is convenient. IPhone Duo has spent its first weeks on the market fielding reviews, case roundups and a steady stream of social-media chatter, and a feature tailor-made for a bigger screen gives Apple another reason to point people toward it. Whether that was the plan or a happy coincidence isn't clear. Apple's release notes for iOS 27.2 don't single out any one device for Multiview.

Apple hasn't said whether Multiview will expand past F1, MLS and MLB. 9to5Mac's report floated the hope that more leagues get added, especially after seeing how cleanly a phone screen handled four streams at once. For now, the feature is live for anyone running iOS 27.2 with an active Apple TV subscription, on any iPhone capable of running the update, Duo included.

Apple TV's sports push has been building for a while, with F1 added as part of a broader effort to bring live rights onto the service alongside its scripted and documentary slate. Multiview on iPhone is a small addition next to that, but it's the kind of feature that becomes a bigger selling point the larger the screen it runs on.
