The iPhone 17e's successor is starting to take shape, at least on paper. Tipster Digital Chat Station, cited by Gizmochina and later by Digit, has laid out a fuller spec sheet for the iPhone 18e, and the picture that emerges is of a phone that upgrades where it's cheap to and holds the line where it isn't.
Start with the screen. The leak points to a 6.12-inch LTPS OLED panel running at 60Hz, barely larger than the 17e's 6.1-inch display and still well short of the 120Hz LTPO screens expected on the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2. Apple has stuck with 60Hz on its budget iPhone before, so this isn't a surprise so much as a confirmation that the company isn't changing strategy for the next one. Separate reports have suggested the 18e could trade its notch for a Dynamic Island cutout, which would at least bring the design closer in line with Apple's pricier phones.
Under the hood, the leak claims a jump to the A20 chip, built on a 2nm process, up from the 3nm A19 in the current 17e. Digit's report adds that the phone could carry 9GB of RAM, though that figure hasn't been corroborated elsewhere.
Cameras get a more modest refresh. The rear setup stays a single 48MP sensor, same as the 17e, but the front camera is tipped to jump to 24MP from the 17e's 12MP shooter. Earlier leaks have also pointed to a C2 cellular modem, the kind currently found in the iPhone 18 Pro models, which would be a meaningful upgrade if it holds up.
None of this is confirmed. Gizmochina is explicit that Apple hasn't said a word about the iPhone 18e, and that pricing wasn't part of this particular leak. Digit's report fills that gap with its own estimate rather than new sourcing, noting that the iPhone 17e currently starts at Rs 79,900 in India following Apple's recent price hikes across the lineup, introduced alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series and the iPhone Duo. Digit expects the 18e to land in a similar range, likely staying under Rs 1 lakh, but that's a projection, not a confirmed number.
For reference, the iPhone 17e launched in the US in March at $599 with 256GB of base storage, which gives some sense of where Apple has positioned this line before.
Timing reports agree the 18e won't show up until spring 2027, separate from this year's iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo launches. Digit's sourcing suggests an India debut around March or April 2027, alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2, the standard successors to this year's iPhone 17 and iPhone Air.
Until Apple confirms anything, all of this sits firmly in leak territory. Expect more tipsters to weigh in over the coming months, and treat every number here, RAM included, as subject to change before an actual announcement.
