Apple has confirmed the iPhone Duo will go on sale October 23 — but only a fraction of buyers who pre-order will actually get one that day. Supply is tight, retail stock is unevenly distributed, and Apple’s own flagship stores are getting wildly different allocations: more than 150 demo units at Fifth Avenue in New York, nearly 100 at Apple Park Visitor Center, and just 20 per average non-flagship location. Three other major stores, Chicago’s Michigan Avenue, LA’s The Grove, and Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Sit in between, with 30 to 40 units each. Pre-orders open October 16 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time. The 256GB model starts at $1,999 in the United States. No Indian price or launch date is mentioned in the reporting. Apple is adapting its Presto wireless setup system for the Duo, enabling name personalization on first boot, English and Spanish only, and only in U.S. Stores. A new white display fixture, built around a central post, will demonstrate folding mechanics in-store. StandBy mode will be demoed untethered along store avenues. MagSafe stands designed for side-by-side comparison. One open Duo plus two standard iPhones, will anchor the spotlight tables. Apple had expected production delays to push sales into November. It cleared that hurdle. But not the bottleneck. The October 23 launch is happening. Stock won’t be.
