Apple has capped iPhone Duo pre-orders at two units per customer across the US, UK, Japan, Spain, and other markets — a move confirmed by 9to5Mac and echoed by Engadget’s own cart tests. The limit applies to all configurations, with no exceptions for storage tiers or colours. A pop-up notification reads: “A maximum of 2 iPhone Duo can be purchased per customer.
Please adjust the total quantity of iPhone Duo in your order before checking out.” It appeared instantly on Apple’s online stores in those regions as soon as pre-orders opened Friday morning. The restriction follows immediate shipping delays: estimated delivery windows slipped into January 2027 within minutes of launch, and scalpers responded just as fast.
Dozens of iPhone Duo listings already appear on eBay, some priced above $5,000. Apple hasn’t announced official US or Indian pricing yet, but earlier leaks pegged the base model at $1,999 in the US and ₹1,89,900 in India. No Indian pre-order page is live as of publishing. This isn’t new territory for Apple: it imposed similar caps during the iPhone 5 launch in 2012, and has enforced walk-in purchase limits in China multiple times over the past decade.
