IQOO will put its compact Pad Pro on store shelves in China on October 28. The handheld Android tablet arrives on the heels of the Pad Ultra, which launched last month. While that earlier model targeted users wanting a large canvas, this new slate shifts focus to a tighter 8.8-inch footprint built specifically for portable play.
Prospective buyers do not have to wait for launch day to see the hardware in person. Demonstration units have already begun showing up at branded vivo and iQOO storefronts across China, letting shoppers get hands-on experience before formal checkout begins.
The compact Android tablet category remains relatively sparse, with few manufacturers challenging devices like Lenovo's Legion Tab line. IQOO is mounting a direct bid for that space by pairing Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with its own proprietary Q3 gaming chip. To prevent performance drops during heavy gaming sessions, the chassis incorporates a built-in cooling fan.
Active cooling is still an unusual sight on consumer slates. Most tablets rely strictly on passive heat dissipation through metal frames, which often leads to aggressive thermal throttling once the processor reaches higher temperatures. By tucking an active fan inside an 8.8-inch frame, iQOO appears intent on keeping frame rates stable across sustained multiplayer matches.
On the front, the tablet uses an 8.8-inch OLED panel with a 165Hz refresh rate. In promotional teasers shared to Weibo, iQOO showed off an Ice Blade Blue color option with a glossy, reflective back plate. The company claims the trimmer dimensions make the tablet easier to hold for long periods, giving players better control and visual coverage in first-person shooters where sprawling screens can make thumb controls awkward.
Gamers also get specialized touch response curves alongside calibrated gyroscope tracking. Powering the setup is a 9,020mAh battery cell, an impressive capacity for an 8.8-inch device that often outpaces the packs inside larger slates.
Two critical details remain undisclosed. IQOO has not yet revealed the pricing structure or storage configurations for the Pad Pro ahead of the October 28 sale date. The brand has also shared no information regarding a wider international rollout, leaving potential buyers in global markets waiting to see if this compact gaming machine makes it beyond China.
