Early leaks around the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra suggest the next flagship could bring significant shifts to its camera array alongside a steep price tag in India. Reports indicate the device may land in the sub-Rs 1.6 to 1.7 lakh segment when it debuts early next year, likely around February or March 2027.

That positioning places the S27 Ultra directly against heavy competition, including the Oppo Find X10 Pro Max, which arrives in India on October 22 with an expected price under Rs 1.5 lakh. The OnePlus 16, which already launched in China, could sit well above Rs 1 lakh if company plans shift to bring it to Indian shelves.

Samsung appears to be trimming down the hardware package on the back. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to swap out the long-standing quad-camera arrangement for a triple-lens setup. Rumoured specifications point to a 200MP primary sensor, flanked by a 50MP ultrawide lens and a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. Up front, the phone is said to feature a 16MP camera for selfies. By comparison, Oppo's Find X10 Pro Max packs three 200MP rear sensors covering wide, ultrawide, and 3x telephoto tasks, backed by a 3.2MP multispectral sensor and a 50MP selfie shooter.

Under the hood, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to run Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. That matches the silicon inside China's OnePlus 16, while Oppo opted for MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 Pro. Samsung plans to back its hardware with seven years of operating system updates on top of its latest One UI software.

Display specs remain familiar. The S27 Ultra is tipped to carry a 6.9-inch 2K M16 panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, S Pen support, an anti-reflective coating, and an upgraded Privacy Display 2.0 system. OnePlus, meanwhile, pushed its 6.78-inch panel to 165Hz on the Chinese variant.

Battery capacity may prove to be the starkest difference between the brands. The Galaxy S27 Ultra is tipped to hold a 5,700mAh battery that charges at 60W over a cable and 25W wirelessly. Both Chinese rivals offer larger cells: Oppo built an 8,000mAh battery with 80W wired charging into the Find X10 Pro Max, and OnePlus equipped its flagship with a 9,000mAh battery supporting 100W wired speeds. Both competitors also hit 50W wireless speeds.

Samsung has not confirmed any specifications or launch plans for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Expect more details to surface as the projected early 2027 launch window approaches.
