Apple's M5 Pro is a laptop chip featuring a 15-core CPU and 16-core GPU, first used in the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro launched in March 2026 (3), and it continues to power both the standard Liquid Retina XDR MacBook Pro line and Apple's newly announced touchscreen MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, unveiled October 28, 2026 (7, 8, 9). Pricing spans from steep discounts on older standard models to as much as $4,799 on the new touchscreen 16-inch configuration with the higher-tier M5 Max chip (12).
M5 Pro price
The standard non-touch 16-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro starts at $2,999 in the US (2, 14). The touchscreen 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Pro starts at $2,899, and the 16-inch touchscreen model starts at $3,399, both roughly $400 more than their non-touch equivalents at the same screen size, according to pricing shared by DPReview (8, 14). A fully configured touchscreen model can reach far higher: one outlet priced a top configuration at $14,549 (11). Stepping up from M5 Pro to the M5 Max chip in the touchscreen line pushes prices to $4,499 for the 14-inch model and $4,799 for the 16-inch (12). No Indian pricing has been disclosed for either the standard or touchscreen M5 Pro models, though the touchscreen laptops are expected to go on sale in India on November 6 (2, 3, 7).
M5 Pro specs
The M5 Pro chip pairs a 15-core CPU with a 16-core GPU (1, 3). MacBook Pro configurations built around it have been sold with 24GB of unified memory and either 1TB or 2TB of storage (1, 3, 12). The chip also supports Wi-Fi 7 in at least one reported configuration (3). On the new touchscreen models, the M5 Pro sits inside a chassis that keeps the familiar 14.2-inch and 16.2-inch sizes and the same resolutions as the non-touch models, 3,024 by 1,986 pixels and 3,472 by 2,266 pixels, but swaps in a tandem OLED panel rated for 1,200 nits for full-screen content and 2,000 nits at peak for HDR, with a 120Hz variable refresh rate and a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio (9). The notch is gone on these models, replaced by a Dynamic Island borrowed from the iPhone (6, 9, 11).
